About the Artist |
A life-long artist, naturalist, and teacher, Diane Hulse is a painter, sculptor, and mixed media jewelry artist. She received a BA in fine arts from Beloit College and an MA in art education from New York University. Diane has studied at the Art Students’ League of NY, the School of Visual Arts, Greenwich House Pottery, 92nd Street Y in New York City, Nicole Jacquard, Anne Fiala, and Attai Chen at the Penland School of Crafts, and Bianca Lopez at the Bianca Lopez Studio of Jewelry Art and Design. Originally from NYC, Diane moved to Chester County, PA in 2020. A member of Studios@, Diane currently maintains her studio at The Delaware Contemporary in Wilmington, DE.
Diane’s work has been exhibited at Beloit College, the Art Students’ League, the Connecticut Pastel Society, National Arts Club, Staten Island Academy, the Staten Island Museum, the Oratorio di San Rocco in Padua, Italy, Deka Jewelry and Christopher 19 in Greenwich Village, and numerous galleries on the East End of Long Island, Wilmington, DE, and Chester County, PA. Her work is held in private collections around the country. |
During a career in education that spanned four decades, Diane taught painting, print-making, architecture, sculpture, and art appreciation at three distinguished private schools in New York City. A semi-retired education leader, Diane is also an expert in leadership development and is renowned in independent school education. Diane believes that there is a powerful connection between leadership and art. Both are creative acts, and both require divergent thinking and visionary skills.
In addition to being trained as an artist, Diane has an MS in Organizational Dynamics from the University of Pennsylvania and serves as an organizational consultant and executive coach. Her company, Hulse Leadership Development, facilitates strategic plans and consults schools, non-profit organizations, Boards of Trustees, and educational leaders in New York and New Jersey. |
